06/16/2010 - Urgent! Proper Hydration Starts at Home
Parents please help your children avoid dehydration while participating in football or cheerleading. Proper hydration starts 24 hours before heated activity. It is not possible to drink enough fluids, even if they start an hour before practice. Added advice; avoid all caffeinated drinks (coffee & tea) and carbonated drinks (sodas), these beverages actually are diuretics and cause further dehydration, hindering the tissue to absorb fluids. The best beverages, at this age, is watered down Gatorade or good ol' spring water - lots of it.
We try to watch players for signs of dehydration and will continue to take mandatory water breaks during practice, but we need you to do your part as parents. This includes hydrating your children away from the field and assuring they have plenty of water during practice. Most will need between 64oz. (1/2 gallon) & a full gallon of water during a humid practice. If they are going home with half their water bottle full, you should scold them to drink more during breaks. We need to be a team to avoid a very dangerous situation.
Beware of dehydration!
Dehydration can be very dangerous. It can be avoided by drinking regularly and eating slightly salty food. You should therefore fill your water tank as early as possible and drink regularly throughout the day .
To avoid dehydration the only advice is drink… so do it!!!

08/26/2008 - Parking Fines
In an ongoing saga of the Pinellas Park Police trying to keep right of ways clear, they continue to write tickets. The latest violation being enforced is parking within 30 feet of a STOP sign. In addition, please do not double park, park on sidewalks or right of ways, block emergency entrances to fields, park behind others trapping them or any other places that are marked or are illegal. Pinellas Park's Finest have been out several times already giving warnings and they have started issuing fines (and they are not excepting excuses, protect your hard-earned money. There is a large parking lot across 78th Ave just north of field #5 if you are unable to find another legal parking spot.
Please be advised, The Good Samaritan Church has notified the league that we must avoid parking in their lot on Monday's or risk being ticketed and towed. This will be for the entire football season. They apparently have functions on Mondays and have every right to utilize their lot. We appreciate their allowance in our league's use of their parking throughout the season.
Thank you for your cooperation.
